Information We Collect
Focus Flow operates entirely on your local device and does not collect or transmit any personal information. The extension only accesses:
- Tab Information: Tab titles, URLs, and last accessed timestamps to determine hibernation eligibility
- User Preferences: Your hibernation timeout settings and site whitelist preferences
- Tab Activity: User interaction patterns to intelligently manage tab hibernation
How We Use Information
All information processing occurs locally within your browser for the following purposes:
- Monitoring tab activity to identify inactive tabs
- Hibernating unused tabs to optimize memory usage
- Restoring hibernated tabs when clicked
- Maintaining user preferences and settings
- Respecting whitelist settings for protected sites
Data Storage
Focus Flow stores minimal data locally using Chrome's storage API:
- Settings: Your hibernation timeout preferences and site whitelist
- Tab States: Temporary information about hibernated tabs (URLs, titles, favicons)
- Activity Data: Recent tab activity patterns (stored temporarily for optimization)
All stored data remains on your device and is never transmitted to external servers.
Permissions Explanation
Focus Flow requires specific permissions to function effectively:
- tabs: Access tab information for hibernation management
- storage: Save user preferences and hibernated tab states locally
- activeTab: Interact with tabs when restoring from hibernation
- background: Monitor tab activity continuously
- content scripts (all_urls): Detect user activity across all websites
Data Sharing
Focus Flow does not share, sell, or transmit any data to third parties. All processing occurs locally within your browser environment.
Data Security
Since all data processing occurs locally:
- No data is transmitted over the internet
- Your browsing information remains private on your device
- No external servers have access to your tab information
- Data is protected by your device's security measures
Data Retention
Focus Flow only retains data as long as necessary for functionality:
- Hibernated tab information is deleted when tabs are closed
- User preferences persist until manually changed or the extension is uninstalled
- Activity patterns are stored temporarily for optimization purposes
